I finally sorted through the pile: tagged everything, removed duplicates, and kept only what I actually come back to. Here's what worked and what turned out to be a waste of effort.
The rule turned out to be simple: if I haven't opened a note in over a year, it goes to the archive, not the main folder.
Fall is traditionally the most readable time of the year. A couple of translations I've been waiting for finally came out, along with one surprisingly good popular science book about habits.

Swapped the keyboard and added a light bar behind the monitor. Sounds like a small thing, but it genuinely made long evenings easier on the eyes.
